Every year across the UK, there are approximately 6,000 deaths as a result of home accidents. Falls are the most common accidents and can cause serious injury at any time of life, but the risk increases with age. More women than men over the age of 65 die as a result of an accident in the home.
With a growing number of older adults living independently, it’s increasingly important to make sure that they’re safe at home. Falls, burns, and poisonings are among the most common accidents involving older people. Older adults who live alone may also become the victims of criminals who target older people. If you’re an older adult living on your own, or care for an older person living alone, here’s what you need to do to stay safe.

Always keep a list of emergency numbers such as 999, a family member or friend in case of an emergency and your care provider. In many cases where the accident is high risk and if unable to dial an emergency contact, press Danger within the ES app. You have now alerted Esops, your community/neighbours that you are deemed at high risk. Help is on route.
